Expert Cement Water Lining (CML) Solutions

Increase the durability of your water system’s pipes and improve the quality of the water inside the pipes with Sheenwater Group LLC’s top-notch cement water lining services. When you work with us, we’ll apply a protective cement mortar lining inside your pipelines, which works to drastically reduce the process of corrosion. A cement-mortar-lined ductile iron pipe provides a Hazen-Williams flow coefficient, or “C” value, of 140 — a realistic value that is maintained over the life of the pipe. This standard lining, which is furnished in accordance with ANSI/AWWA C104/A21.4, continues its tradition of dependable, trouble-free service.

Our Process

Step 1: Staging and Preparation

Staging a temporary water main on the surface level. (HDPE preferred and often used) Chlorination, flushing, and samples to available 3rd party labs. Once confirmation is received, every residential or commercial property involved will require access to water meters. Projected downtime without water is 15-30 minutes and should only take place twice in the project's entirety.

Step 2: Hook Up, Shut Down, Excavate

During this step, we will be performing a shutdown, utilizing valves, and isolating and directing water as needed. Access pits will measure 5' x 7' on average. The access pit location varies and is determined by the placement of gate valves, fittings, obstructions, and run lengths.

Access pits will be marked, cut, stripped, excavated, shored, and covered with road plates. The expected lengths between access pits should consist of 400-600 feet of undisturbed surface.

Step 3: Cut Rod and Clean

Once the pipe is exposed, cut, and examined, the next steps involve rodding and winching.

Two winch trucks hooked to opposite ends will begin the cleaning process, pulling scrapers, squeegees, and a pipe-specific prover, proving the line is machine-ready.

Step 4: System Blow-backs

The main line is cleaned, and each individual service line connected must be reverse-flushed. Mentioned above in staging and preparation is when the meter work took place. Performing blow-backs consists of air and/or water being used to push back cleanings and linings. This step is performed twice: once after cleaning and once after lining.

Step 5: Lining Pipe

The final step of rehabilitating the water main is installing the internal lining. Most pipe furnished is cement-lined, providing improved flow characteristics and the required protection against tuberculation.

This process has multiple steps with variables that must be accounted for, including weather, run lengths, obstructions, and mix consistency.

Step 6: Pipe Inspection

Once the liner is cured and the work is complete, we conduct a CCTV inspection to verify that everything is correctly installed and your system is ready to go.
