Pneumatic Pipe Bursting Services

Pneumatic pipe bursting is a trenchless rehabilitation technique used to replace or repair existing underground pipes without the need for extensive excavation. It is particularly effective for replacing old or damaged sewer lines, water pipes, and other types of underground conduits. At Sheenwater Group LLC, we have expert-level knowledge in the field and proudly offer quality pneumatic pipe bursting solutions to our commercial, industrial, and municipal clients.

How Pneumatic Pipe Bursting is Performed

1. Site Preparation: The area where the pipe will be burst is surveyed and prepared. Access pits are typically dug at both ends of the section of pipe to be replaced.

2. Insertion of the Bursting Head: A pneumatic bursting head, which is cone-shaped and equipped with a splitting mechanism, is inserted into the existing pipe through one of the access pits.

3. Expansion and Bursting: Compressed air is used to drive the bursting head through the old pipe. As the head moves forward, it creates pressure that fractures the existing pipe, forcing the broken pieces to be pushed into the surrounding soil. This creates a pathway for the new pipe.

4. Pulling in the New Pipe: Attached to the bursting head is a flexible new pipe (often made of high-density polyethylene or another corrosion-resistant material). As the bursting head advances and breaks the old pipe, it also pulls the new pipe into place simultaneously.

5. Completion: Once the new pipe is fully installed, the access pits are backfilled, and the surface restored. The new pipe is then connected to the existing infrastructure.
